Nigeria’s President Says Boko Haram Crushed, On The Run and Have No place To Hide

The Nigerian-based Boko Haram Islamist group has finally been crushed — driven from its last forest enclave and bastion with its fighters on the run and no place to hide, Nigeria’s president Muhammad Buhari declared in Abuja on Saturday.

However, according to an Associated Press report, the president’s victorious statement came amid claims by one faction of Boko Haram, which is allied with ISIS, that they conducted a successful attack on an army barracks in Yobe state “killed and wounded many.” The communique on social media said the attack took place Thursday, the same day President Muhammadu Buhari said troops defeated Boko Haram in its Sambisa Forest stronghold in Borno state.

In a statement, President Buhari commended Nigerian troops for “finally entering and crushing the remnants of the Boko Haram insurgents at Camp Zero,” which is located deep within the heart of the infamous Sambisa Forest. According to the statement, Boko Haram terrorists have been defeated in their last enclave” and Buhari declared that: “the terrorists are on the run, and no longer have a place to hide.”
