The Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, said that President Muhammadu Buhari is in high spirits and recuperating fast. The President will be back soon, he added. Osinbajo who jetted out of the State House on Tuesday to the UK told journalists before the Federal Executive Council meeting that his visit to Buhari was simply to check on his general welfare and brief him on the developments back home.
The Supreme court on Wednesday declared the Ahmed Markafi Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction as the authentic PDP and he as the National Chairman of the PDP. The apex court restricted Ali Modu Sheriff from further parading himself as the acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party. Apparently, today marks the end of PDP’s power tussle between the two men.
The House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum Resources(Downstream) on Tuesday issued a fresh summon on the Chairman of Capital Oil Ltd, Chief Ifeanyi Ubah over alleged missing N11billion petroleum products belonging to the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to appear before it on Thursday. The Chairman of the committee, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja announced the fresh summon.
The appeal filed by ex-First Lady Patience Jonathan in Lagos to discharge a court order which temporarily seized the sum of $5.9m found in her Skye Bank account, was stalled on Wednesday as one of the three appeal court justices, John Ikyeh, Abimbola Obaseki-Adejumo and Abraham Georgewill, withdrew for personal reasons. The court had earlier fixed Wednesday to hear the appeal. Presiding Justice Ikyeh told counsel on both sides that the appeal could no longer be heard as a result.
