30 private jets landed in Minna for IBB daughter’s wedding

Thirty private jets and four police and air force aircraft landed in Minna the capital of Niger State on Friday for the wedding of former President Ibrahim Babangida’s daughter Halimat. Halima is the last child of IBB and she is marrying a Gombe businessman, Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi, the Sarkin Sudan of Gombe, in Gombe state.

Jonathan leads ex-PDP governors to IBB daughter’s wedding

Former President Goodluck Jonathan, including his wife, Patience on Friday led a large delegation of former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders, governors, past and serving senators to attend the wedding of Halima Babangida , daughter of former military president, General Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger State.

IBB received N500k & 10 cows as bride price

Alhaji Auwal Abdullahi, the businessman (groom) who married Halimat Babangida o in  Friday at Minna, Niger State, paid a symbolic bride price of N500,000 and 10 cows to the bridegroom’s  father, former Military President, General Ibrahim Babangida. The groom is the Sarkin Sudan of Gombe, in Gombe state.

Gen. Garba Wushishi performed the symbolic ceremony of handing over Halimat at 2.45 pm in marriage to Abdullahi. Gov. Ibrahim Dankwanbo of Gombe state received the bride on behalf of the groom, who hails from Gombe state. The wedding ceremony scheduled for 11.30 a.m was held after 2.45pm.

Ohaneze Ndigbo blasts DSS for detaining Capital Oil boss, Ifeanyi Ubah

Calls continuous detention of Ifeanyi Ubah illegal

Igbo apex Socio-Cultural group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Lagos State chapter on Friday condemned the DSS over what it described as the illegal arrest and detention of the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, since May 5, 2017.

Members stormed the Justice Muhammed Idris Federal High Court Ikoyi, Lagos, in solidarity for Dr. Ubah. The group called on all Igbo sons and daughters within and across Lagos State to storm the Court on Thursday, May 18, 2017, in support of their Grand Patron, at the resumed hearing of the trial. Recall that on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, Justice Idris ordered the DSS to produce Dr. Ubah before his court on Friday and show why the oil mogul should not be released unconditionally.

The Honorable Justice was ruling in the ex-parte application filed by Ifeoma Esom, Counsel to Dr. Ubah, to compel Ubah’s unconditional release from the custody of the DSS, where he has been since Friday, May 5, 2017.

However, the DSS failed to produce Dr. Ubah in Court today (Friday). Justice Idris, thus adjourned till May 18, for the substantive matter to be heard.

APC National Leader Ahmed Tinubu, Sen Aliyu Wamakko, Gov of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, Mrs Aikhomu, Mrs Josephine Anenih, ex-governor Babangida Aliyu, were among the many personalities who witnessed the short ceremony at the Hilltop home of the retired military General in Minna, the Niger State capital.

Among the guests were former vice-president, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, Alhaji Ahmed Makarfi, PDP factional Chairman, Alhaji Attahiru Bafarawa, former Governor of Sokoto state, Alhaji Mahmud Shinkafi, former governor of Zamafara state. Others were Isa Yuguda, former governor of Bauchi state, Sule Lamido, former Governor of Jigawa, Ibrahim Shema, former Gov. of Katsina, Alhaji Abubakar Dakingari, former Gov. of Kebbi. Others in attendance were Sen. Pius Anyim Pius, former Secretary of the Government of the Federation, Justice Idris Kutigi, former Chief Justice of the Federation, Alhaji Ahmed Yayale, also a former SGF, Gen. Magoro, Senator Ben Obi, Senator Ben Bruce, Air Vice Marshal Ibrahim Haruna, Chairman IBB Golf Club, Alhaji Sani Zangon Daura, Also prominent among the guests at the ceremony were businessman, Aliko Dangote and Mr Mark Snoxell, Managing Director, Dornier Aircraft. Gen. Aliyu Gusau, who served several times as National Security Adviser, Dr Okwezili Nwodo, former PDP National Secretary, Alhaji Modibo, former FCT Minister, Oba Hamid Adekunle, Oluwo Kuta, also came.

Others were Air Marshall Hamza Abdullahi, Gen. Garba Duba, Sen.Aliyu Wamakko ,Sen Yarima Abdullahi, Sen Rabiu Kwankwaso, Sen Nuhu Aliyu, who was also a former police DIG.

No freedom for Ifeanyi Ubah, yet – Federal High Court Lagos

The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Friday declined to compel the DSS to release the oil magnate, Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah. The court had on May 9th, while granting an ex-parte application filed and argued by Ubah’s lawyer, Mrs. Ifeoma Esom, ordered the DSS and its Director-General to produce him in court today, or show cause while he should not be produced.

However, at the hearing of the case today, Ubah’s lawyer, Mr Ajibola Oluyede, urged the court to order immediate release of his client, Ubah, due to flagrant disobedience of the order of the court made on May 8, 2017 but the court declined to issue order for his release because of another court order from the FCT high court for his remand in prison.

Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah and his oil firm, Capital Oil and Gas, had instituted a fundamental right suit against the DSS and its Director-General, seeking his unconditional release from the custody of DSS. Joined in the suit are the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), NNPC Retail Limited, and Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).

Osinbajo inaugurates NSIA board

Acting President Yemi Osinbajo on Friday inaugurated the board of the Nigerian Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA). The National Economic Council (NEC) in February approved the nomination of members from the six geo-political zones in the country for appointment into the board of the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority for a four-year term with Babajide Zeitlin as its chairman.

Those inaugurated into the board from the six geo-political zones in the country include Halima Buba (North-East), Bello Maccido (North–West), Lois Laraba Machunga-Disu (North Central), Babajide Zetilin (South West), Urum Kalu Eze (South East) and Asue Ighodalo (South-South). Others include Uche Orji, the Managing Director of NSIA, Stella Ojekwe-Onyejeli and Hanspeter Acheermann.

Finally, National Assembly Releases Its Budge & Passes FG’s Spending Bill

The National Assembly, on Thursday, finally released a 33-page document detailing the line-by-line expenditure of its budget for 2017. The National Assembly’s budget was increased by N10 billion to N125 billion, from the N115 billion proposed by the executive.

Also, the legislature passed the 2017 Appropriation Bill for the year, with an increment of N143 billion to N7.441 trillion, from the executive’s proposal of N7.298, five months after President Muhammadu Buhari submitted the federal government’s spending bill.
