President Buhari Set To Leave Nigeria For US; Biafra Security Services (BSS) Set up to Protect Igbo from Fulani Herdsmen – IPOB; Buhari should be detained for disobeying court order, not me – Nnamdi Kanu . . .
President Muhammadu Buhari will leave Abuja on Monday, September 4, 2017 for a trip to Washington DC. in the United States of America.
President Buhari’s trip to the US is at the invitation of President Donald Trump, with a Nigerian Presidency source revealing that President Trump extended the invitation last February, shortly after his inauguration.
According to an itinerary seen by Sahara Reporters, President Buhari is scheduled to leave his hometown, Daura, by helicopter at 9:15 am on Monday for Katsina airport. From the airport, he will fly out at 10 am aboard a Nigeria’s Air Force One (Eagle One) presidential jet to Washington DC.
A source at the Presidency revealed that the earlier plan was for the Nigerian President to combine the official visit to the US with his participation at the UN General Assembly in New York from September 21 to 25, 2017.
At the time of filing this report, there was no confirmed or clarified information by the Presidency or President Buhari’s media communications office of the President’s purported trip to the US.
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has stated once again that the Biafra Security Service (BSS) was designed and formed to protect “Biafran” villages from Fulani herdsmen attack.
IPOB was reacting to palpable apprehensions from many concerned Nigerians and the Nigerian Police over the formation of the BSS. Many Nigerians have leveled treason or treasonable charges against both IPOB and BSS. They all view the setting up of the security outfit and its intensions as treasonable.
In a press release by the IPOB’s publicity secretary, Mr. Emma Powerful, the group said it would not go back on the formation of the BSS, and was not ready to contest the formation with anyone as the outfit would remain.
Mr. Powerful stated:
“IPOB will not be in contest with anybody or group about the formation of the BSS. Biafra Security Service is a security outfit only designed to protect Biafran villages from Fulani herdsmen attack. It is not in competition with the police and will not perform any duties outside safeguarding returnees from the North and checkmating Fulani herdsmen attack.
It’s like any other vigilante group but this has a national colouration in that protection is Biafra-wide. There is nothing treasonable about protecting our farms and villages from Fulani herdsmen. People should stop turning English language upside down.
In Arewa North, there are Hisbah, Sharia Police and other forms of Islamic security. Why can’t Biafrans have their own security to protect innocent mothers and our women from being raped and killed by Fulani herdsmen?”

Mr. Powerful said there was nothing treasonable about exercising the right to self-determination and securing lives and properties.
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has said that President Muhammadu Buhari and Lawal Daura, the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), should be detained for disobeying court orders.
In an interview with The Sun, Kanu said, inter alia, below:
“President Muhammadu Buhari was the one who broke the laws, he disobeyed the direct court order to release me unconditionally, not once, but twice.
Honourable Shuaibu of Wuse magistrate court granted me bail, Buhari did not release me. Hon Justice Ademola granted me unconditional bail, Buhari and his cousin, Lawal Daura refused to honour that court order.
They are the ones who should be detained for flagrant disobedience to court orders. I want the northern Arewa irredentists to call for the arrest of Buhari and Daura for flouting court order after court order, asking for my release.
It smacks of hypocrisy and absolute cowardice that people who could not rise up in defence of the law when a court made a judicial pronouncement are now clamouring for my arrest because they believe it is easy to do so. Before now, Nnamdi Kanu is Igbo, he is a Biafran and can be arrested and nothing will happen but that would not be anymore, it would no longer happen.”
Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, Leader of IPOB
It will be recalled that last week, the federal government approached a federal high court in Abuja to seek the revocation of Kanu’s bail on the grounds that he had violated his bail conditions.
From indications, Mazi Kanu has since violated his stringent bail conditions.
In the interview, he wondered why no attempt was made to arrest the Arewa youth leaders who gave the quit notice to the Igbo resident in the north to vacate the north on or before October 1.
“Quote me verbatim. If I’m rearrested, this country will burn, I assure you. From where that oil money they depend on, they can no longer have access to it. I assure them that. This is not empty threat.
We’re IPOB, we don’t abandon our own.”
Asked why he has been violating his bail conditions, Mazi Kanu said:
“Are you talking about an illegal and unconstitutional bail condition? A bail condition designed to emasculate and basically render IPOB impotent? Does anyone seriously think I’m going to stand for IPOB to be rendered desolate?
I can’t allow that to happen, I have not violated any laws unknown to the Nigerian judicial establishment. I have not committed any offence; no crime whatsoever. I said no crime. It is a violation of my right to ask me not to speak; to ask me not to be in a congregation of not more than 10 people, an absolute violation of articles enshrined in the constitution that I expect all and sundry to be rising up in defence of, not trying to justify the erosion of my fundamental human rights to speak, to be heard and to associate.”
He insisted that the Anambra governorship election will not hold, calling on his supporters to boycott the exercise.
“I gave a speech in Aba, Abia state on Sunday and I made it absolutely clear that the boycott stays.
We must boycott the election in Anambra state. It is our civic responsibility to do so and that’s what we are going to do – total and absolute boycott, to let the whole world understand the strength of IPOB on the ground, in Anambra state.”
