Did Russia’s alleged election interference change the U.S. presidential election outcome? The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that it did. Did the Russian interference go far beyond hacks? Are the Democrats’ politics on the Hill in Washington DC at play? Read to find out below . . .
The U.S. Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper appeared on Capitol Hill and testified at the Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on foreign cyber threats to the United States of America. The DNI said that the Russian government’s interference with the United States election went far beyond the hacks of Democratic National Committee email accounts, which were merely one part of a multilayered campaign of propaganda and deception.
Clapper outlined various methods used by Moscow (Kremlin) to interfere with U.S. institutions during Thursday morning testimonial session on cyberattacks before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Clapper and the chiefs/heads of other intelligence agencies went to Capitol Hill to testify and showcase their intel conclusions to U.S. lawmakers in a large opulent senate committee room.
The testimony came on the heels of tension(s) between the U.S. intelligence community and the U.S. President-elect Donald J. Trump. President Barack Obama will get his briefing on the Russian hacks on Thursday and Trump is set to get his own on Friday by the DNI himself.
Trump has repeatedly cast doubt(s) on the findings and conclusion(s) emanating from the intelligence community and the Obama administration’s acceptance of the intel agencies’ conclusion that the Russian Federation-sponsored cyberattacks sought to influence the U.S. presidential election of 2016 which gave Trump the coveted White House – the fulcrum of American power.
At the senate committee hearing, Sen. John McCain an Arizona GOP (photo) asked whether Russia had in fact succeeded in altering the outcome of the presidential election and whether that would constitute an attack on the United States? McCain asked Clapper if he agreed with his assessment.
Clapper went on a tangent: “Whether or not that constitutes an act of war I think is a very heavy policy call that I don’t believe the intelligence community should make,” Clapper continued, “but would carry in my view great gravity.”
Sen. Martin Heinrich, a New Mexico DEM, asked Clapper if he could address the relevance of publicly available information in seeing the full picture of Russia’s activities.
Clapper replied with ‘assurance’: “While there has been a lot of focus on the hacking, this is actually part of a multifaceted campaign that the Russians mounted.”
Clapper pointed to the Kremlin-funded TV channel RT, previously called Russia Today. “Of course RT, which is heavily supported, funded by the Russian government, was very, very active in promoting a particular point of view, disparaging our system,” the DNI continued.
Director of National Intelligence James Clapper and Admiral Michael S. Rogers said they had concerns that President-elect Donald Trump’s dismissive attitude towards the intelligence community could harm morale. Clapper, the top U.S. intelligence official said on Thursday he was “even more resolute” in his belief that Russia staged cyber attacks on Democrats during the 2016 election campaign, rebuking persistent skepticism from Republican President-elect Donald Trump about whether Moscow was involved.
The intelligence officials at Thursday’s hearing said they worried that a lack of support from atop the U.S. government could prompt valued staff members to leave their agencies. “There’s a difference between healthy skepticism . . . and disparagement,” Clapper bellowed. Vice President-elect Mike Pence has used the expression “healthy skepticism” to defend Trump’s criticism of intelligence findings – and now conclusions!
The United States Intelligence Community (IC) is a federation of 16 separate United States government agencies that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities considered necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and national security of the United States of America. Member organizations of the IC include intelligence agencies, military intelligence, and civilian intelligence and analysis offices within federal executive departments. The IC is headed by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James Clapper, who reports to the President of the United States, Hon. Barack Obama.
I refuse to buy all these talks about the U.S. national intelligence or the U.S. intelligence community (all 16 of them) operating in unison. Sixteen intel agencies, all unwieldy and independent, having conflicting and contrasting findings and conclusions at times is not an ideal intel mix.
They were wrong with their intel assessment of weapons of mass destruction (WMD) when they affirmed that there was WMD in Iraq, part of the ”axis of evil”. That was false and untrue! The Secretary of State, Collin Powell (Jan 20, 2001 – Jan 26, 2005) appeared before the United Nations to testify on the fact of WMD in Iraq – which was the backbone and excuse for President George W. Bush (Jan 20, 2001 – Jan 20, 2009) to invade Iraq – and what a mess that was!
The U.S. intelligence community have also been wrong on many other occasions and that is the crux of the matter. There is clear evidence(s) emanating from the Obama administration, the U.S. Democratic Party, the American liberals, the leftists, the U.S. media comprising of leftist-leaning and parochial media networks and leftist-leaning print media and other Trump-haters out there who cannot bring themselves to believe that Donald J. Trump defeated all of them in a presidential election in God’s Own Country!
The pollsters led them on and through fabricated opinion polling and polling by their networks, channels and newspapers, they had given the presidential election to the Democratic presidential candidate, Hilary Clinton – only for Trump to Trump them at the polls to secure the much-needed and constitutionally provided Electoral College votes. Donald Trump is headed to the White House on 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Washington DC., and they can’t still believe it.
James Clapper the Director of the U.S. National Intelligence and the whole U.S. intelligence community are unanimous in concluding that the Russians hacked into the U.S. Democratic National Committee computers, tilted and changed the outcome of the U.S. presidential election in favor of Donald Trump. That is balderdash!
James Clapper said on Capitol Hill that Donald Trump is disparaging the intel community. Wrong! They and the Democrats, including the Obama administration, the U.S. Democratic Party, the American liberals, the leftists, the U.S. media comprising of leftist-leaning and parochial media networks and leftist-leaning print media and other Trump-haters out there are, in other words, telling whoever cares to listen that Donald Trump did not win the U.S. presidential election fair and square. It’s a DEM conspiracy.
The conspirators are also either deliberately or inadvertently (more of the former) revealing or bringing to notice the notion that the Russians assisted Trump (with the DNC hacked emails, released by Wikileaks) during the presidential campaigns which may have swayed voters and voting. Meanwhile, there is no evidence that the leaked DNC emails released by Julian Assange’s Wikileaks swayed American voters, and also, there is no evidence of the Russians hacking the electronic voting machines in any of the 50 states either directly or through any proxy or proxies.
They are playing politics with intel findings as dictated by political considerations favorable to Hilary Clinton and the Democrats, who by the way lost the presidential election at the polls. The irony is that the intel chiefs who went to Capitol Hill agree that there was no proof of Russian hackings into polling machines and votes were not affected. What they’ve done and are doing is: “they are delegitimizing Trump’s electoral victory.” They are denying Trump his mandate which he got at the polls in America – unbelievable!
Donald J. Trump will assume the mantle of power and the U.S. Presidency, and also lead the United States of America from the Oval Office in the West Wing of the White House, from Friday January 20, 2017 – for the next four years – whether they like it or not. The American people spoke with their votes – period!
